Using traditional pharmacological medicine alongside holistic herbal therapy, we offer a dual approach to hormonal treatment for women in the north Georgia vicinity at any of our three convenient-to-you locations in Alpharetta and Johns Creek.

Sonohystogram – Johns Creek & Alpharetta OBGYN

When ultrasound test results prove inconclusive, a sonohystogram may be recommended. ISIS OB/GYN feels it is the preferred procedure when your physician needs a better look at the uterine cavity and endometrium because it can detect isolated lesions or carcinomas by separating endometrial tissues and outlining the uterine cavity walls with fluid. Used to evaluate unexplained uterine bleeding, SIS is a quick, cost-effective, and relatively painless procedure that easily diagnoses the cause of infertility, including missed ab, or used with hysteroscopy for removal of bartholin cysts and endometrial ablations, as well as routine blind biopsy and dilation and curettage (D&C).

We understand that you have concerns, and rather than brush them aside, we'll take all the time you need to answer questions and allay your fears. Many women report that discomfort is minimal and usually alleviated with the use of an over-the-counter dose of ibuprofen.

The procedure is usually scheduled at the end of the menstrual cycle, when the endometrium is in its thinnest and most uniform state. Positioned as you would be during an annual exam, the procedure is much like what you experience during a Pap smear and takes less than a half hour to complete. A transvaginal probe is inserted into the vaginal canal while sterile saline is injected through a catheter into the uterine cavity as the ultrasound is being performed. Moving the transducer to recreate a three-dimensional picture of the uterine anatomy, practitioners and staff at Isis OB/GYN can pinpoint the exact locations(s) of problem areas, providing the least intrusive treatment possible.
